General Information On Aclovate Cream

Aclovate Cream is helpful in reducing chemical reactions in the body which result in swelling, redness, or inflammation of the skin. Its generic name is Alclometasone Topical, and it belongs to the class of topical steroids. You can buy Aclovate Cream in the form of a topical cream. It works by reducing inflammatory reactions in the body and modifying immune reactions. Sometimes, this drug can also be used for treating itching and inflammation caused due to a skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis, or allergy.

Side Effects for Aclovate Cream

Since Aclovate Cream is a topical application, most of the common side effects are noticed on your skin. Some of the reactions that you may notice at the site of application include a mild skin rash, redness, dryness, burning, itching, pimples, blisters, stretch marks, and crusting. Softening or thinning of your skin may also take place, and you may also experience irritation or skin rashes around your mouth. You may also notice swollen hair follicles. These are mild reactions of Aclovate Cream and subside within a few days, but if any of these become intolerable, it would be wise to contact your doctor.

Although Aclovate Cream is applied on the skin, it may cause some serious side effects in a few patients. Some of these may include weight gain, muscle weakness, tiredness, blurred vision, mood changes, insomnia, puffiness on the face, or seeing halos around lights. If you notice any of these, you should stop using the drug and inform your doctor. An allergic reaction to the cream can be identified by difficulty in breathing, swollen face, tongue, throat or lips, hives and rashes.

Precautions

Do not buy Aclovate Cream if you are allergic to the drug or if you are suffering from measles, shingles, chickenpox, tuberculosis, thinning of the skin, or any skin infections. You should also not use it if you have tested positive for TB or have recently received a vaccination. Do not cover the affected area with an occlusive dressing or bandage after applying Aclovate Cream unless your doctor asks you to do so. If you are using the cream to treat diaper rash in a child, you should not use tight fitting diapers or plastic pants during treatment. You should inform your doctor if your skin condition does not improve even after 2 weeks of treatment, or if you notice signs of any new fungal, viral or bacterial skin infection. Aclovate Cream is known to cause harm to an unborn baby, and therefore, you should not use it if you are pregnant. Breastfeeding mothers should use it with caution, as its safety during this condition is not yet established.

Aclovate Cream Dosage

Aclovate Cream 0.05% is available in 50gm tubes. Apply a fine layer of Aclovate Cream on the affected area 2-3 times a day, massaging it in thoroughly. Your doctor may not recommend you to continue using it for more than 2 weeks, as adverse reactions may surface due to prolonged use.

Interactions

You should inform your doctor about all the prescription and non-prescription drugs you are taking at present, especially prednisone and similar medications.
