General Information On Adant
Adant is used for the treatment of certain joint-related clinical disorders, especially osteoarthritis. Its generic name is Hylan G-F 20, and it belongs to the group of devices known as intra-articular injections. You can buy Adant in the form of an injection. It works by lubricating the patient’s joints so that pain or inflammation in the area is relieved.
Side Effects for Adant
Some of the common side effects associated with Adant include muscle pain, headache, trouble walking, fever, nausea, chills, tiredness, dizziness, skin irritation or itching around the treated joint, or warmth, stiffness, swelling, puffiness or pain at the site of the injection. Most of these side effects are temporary and subside within a few days of receiving the injection. Sometimes, fluid may build up around the treated joint, which may worsen the condition. If your condition becomes intolerable, you should inform your doctor and inform him/her about your symptoms. You should also seek immediate help if you develop an allergic reaction after using Adant. Signs of an allergic reaction include hives or rashes all over the body, severe dizziness, difficulty in breathing, or facial swelling.
Precautions
You should not buy Adant if you have an allergy to it components or to eggs/egg products, feathers, or birds. You should also not use it if you already have an infection in the joint or the skin around it, kidney or liver disease, or a blood circulation or blood clotting problem. Adant is not meant for patients less than 21 years of age. Avoid doing any strenuous activity, such as jogging or high-impact sports, after at least 48 hours of receiving the injection. Seek immediate help if you develop severe swelling or pain around the treated joint. Pregnant women and nursing mothers should use this drug with caution, as its safety during these conditions has not yet been established. As Adant may cause dizziness, you must not perform activities where a high level of alertness is needed. Examples of such activities include driving a vehicle or operating a machine. Also limit your alcohol intake as it could worsen the side effects of Adant and even lead to a serious accident.
Adant Dosage
Adant 25mg/2.5ml injection is given to a patient once in 3 weeks. However, the dosage can differ based on your medical condition, age, weight, sex, and the intensity of your pain and inflammation. Dosage adjustments can be made depending on your response to the treatment. After receiving the injection, you may be advised to apply an ice pack on the joint in order to prevent inflammation or pain.
Interactions
Before taking the Adant injection, you should inform your doctor about all the medicines you are already taking. These include prescription and non-prescription drugs, including injections, oral medicines, topical applications, herbal products, and health supplements. As Adant causes dizziness, you should not take any other products that cause the same effect. These products include sedatives, narcotic pain relievers, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety and anti-seizure medicines, antidepressants, muscle relaxants, and sleeping pills.
