General Information on Advair Inhaler
Advair is a mix of salmetrol and fluticasone used as a preventive treatment for asthma attacks. People who buy Advair Inhaler generally use it to prevent recurrent attacks of acute asthma or to treat severe pulmonary disease caused by chronic bronchitis and similar ailments. Advair Inhaler is a potent combination of a steroid and a bronchodilator which combine to provide relief to people who suffer from breathing problems. It prevents airway spasms, but cannot be used as a curative treatment for asthma.
Side Effects for Advair Inhaler
There are a number of possible side effects that can occur due to the use of Advair, such as headaches, bouts of nausea and dizziness, irritation of the throat, mild spasms, and general nervousness. It is prudent to discuss the occurrence of these side effects with a physician to know about the best course of action.
At times, Advair inhaler has been known to cause more severe side effects. People who buy it need to be aware of these effects as a means of precaution so as to be able to deal with them if something happens. Advair has been known to cause chest pains, hoarseness, severe allergic reaction, seizures and spasms, blurred vision, sleeplessness, and severe weakness. These are serious side effects and need to be reported to your doctor as soon as possible if you suffer from them.
Precautions
For people using Advair inhaler, there are certain precautions that need to be taken. If you have a history of fluticasone or salmetrol allergy, then the drug is not recommended for you. Patients suffering from diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, or high blood pressure need to take special care before using Advair. The drug has also been known to detrimentally affect people with liver disease. Since Advair contains steroids and can sometimes produce anaphylactic reactions, it is best for people with weak immune systems or epilepsy to seek special medical guidance before taking Advair. Special care should also be taken by pregnant or breastfeeding women before using this drug.
Advair Inhaler Dosage
In normal cases, the recommended dosage for patients is Advair Inhaler 45/21, which contains 45mcg of fluticasone and 21mcg of salmetrol. For more severe cases, a dosage ratio of 115/21 or 230/21 can also be prescribed. These inhalers contain chemicals for 120 metered oral inhalations. Advair is not recommended for patients under 12 years of age, and it is to be taken only through oral inhalation. It is recommended that you use the inhaler twice daily, with a gap of at least 12 hours between successive doses. The Advair Inhaler dosage prescribed should be strictly adhered to, as an overdose can give rise to serious medical complications.
Interactions
Advair has been known to interact with a number of drugs, and it is imperative for people to know about these interactions before using the drug. Beta blocker drugs like Metoprolol, Sotalol, and Labetalol interact with Advair components. A few antibiotic and antifungal drugs like Clarithromycin and Ketoconazole have also been known to chemically interact with the drug. Patients who are on diuretics and antidepressants should take proper care as these drugs can also have powerful interactions with Advair.
