General Information On Afinitor
Afinitor is used in individuals who have renal cell carcinoma. It is prescribed when sorafenib or sunitinib have not worked. Taken orally, generic Afinitor Afinitor, which contains the chemical Afinitor stops mTor that helps tumors grow. This drug has the ability to work two different ways. It attacks tumor cells directly and the blood vessels that nourish the tumor. As a result it decrease the growth of the tumor cell, reduces the ability of existing tumor cells to stay healthy and stops tumor angiogenesis or blood vessel development in the tumor. The dosages are as follows: Afinitor 5 mg, Afinitor 10 mg.
Side Effects/Precautions for Afinitor
The Afinitor drug should not be used if the patient has allergies to Everolimus. This drug is an immunosuppressant so you may be susceptible to both bacterial and fungal infections. Some of these infections could be dangerous or fatal. Some patients have had ulcerations in the oral cavity and these can be treated with topical medications. You might experience blood elevations of glucose, triglycerides, lipids and creatine. You could experience a decrease in the levels of platelets, hemoglobin, neutrophils or lymphocytes.
Do not use Everolimus if you have liver disease. Live vaccines should not be administered to patients on generic Afinitor, nor should you be in close contact with individuals you have recently received live vaccines.
