General Information on Arixtra Prefilled Syringe

Arixtra Prefilled Syringe is an injection which belongs to a class of drugs known as anticoagulants and is used to prevent a particular type of blood clot known as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), which usually occurs after a certain type of surgery is performed. Its generic name is fondaparainux, and it is typically administered in combination with Warfarin. Post-surgery, your doctor may suggest that you buy Arixtra Prefilled Syringe to prevent blood clotting.

Side Effects for Arixtra Prefilled Syringe

Arixtra too can cause side effects, just like several other prescription drugs. In a majority of cases, the side effects are minor and can be easily treated. However, in rare cases, Arixtra Prefilled Syringe may also cause severe side effects. The most common and less severe side effects of Arxitra include dizziness, minor bleeding, appearance of rashes on the skin, itching at the spot where the injection was injected, and problems having sound sleep.

Patients using Arixtra Prefilled Syringe must immediately consult their doctor if they experience any of these severe side effects – black or bloody stools, severe headache, blood in the vomit, appearance of red or purple spots under the skin, unusual bleeding from the vagina, nose, mouth, or rectum, profuse bleeding from the spot where Arixtra was injected, impaired vision or speech, sudden increase in heart rate, numbness in the feet or legs, and difficulty breathing.

Precautions

To gain maximum benefits from Arixtra Prefilled Syringe, patients using the drug should take essential precautionary measures. You must avoid taking Arixtra if you have the following medical conditions - bleeding in the brain, stomach ulcers or intestinal bleeding, or any other bleeding disorders. While using Arixtra, be sure that you are either in a sitting position or lying down. Arixtra should be injected in a different place on your stomach each time. You must avoid using the drug if it has particles in it or is discolored.

Arixtra Prefilled Syringe Dosage

The amount of Arixtra administered to patients is determined by the doctor depending on their age, weight, past medical records, and the reason for which the injection is administered. The standard recommended Arixtra dosage for preventing blood clots in people undergoing hip replacement surgery, knee replacement surgery, and abdominal surgery is 2.5 mg once a day. The initial dose is administered within 6 to 8 hours after the surgery is performed. The dosage is continued for about 5-9 days. The chance of an Arixtra overdose is minimal since the drug is injected by healthcare professionals. You must avoid altering your dosage unless the doctor specifically advises you to do so.

Interactions

When taken in combination with other over the counter drugs or prescription medicines, Arixtra may lead to drug interactions. A negative drug interaction not only reduces the effectives of the drug, but also greatly increases the risk of dangerous side effects, including bleeding. It is therefore important to inform your doctor about the drugs you are using before you use Arixtra Prefilled Syringe. Arixtra can potentially interact with anticoagulant medicines such as Dabigatran and Clopidogrel, and heparin products such as tinzaparin and enoxaparin. The drug also interacts with NSAIDs including Ibuprofen, Etodolac, and Celecoxib. If you buy Arixtra Prefilled Syringe, make sure you discuss the potential risks of drug interactions with your doctor.
