General Information on Atacand
Atacand is used for treating patients with high blood pressure and patients with heart failure. Candesartan is taken orally and it blocks the hormone angiotensins which relaxes the blood vessels and widens them. This reduces blood pressure which in turn reduces the risk of strokes, kidney problems and heart attacks. In patients with heart failure this drug reduces the risk of hospitalization and also improves the condition of patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction. It is available in the dosage strengths of Atacand 4 mg, Atacand 8 mg and Atacand 16 mg. It can be taken once a day with or without the intake of food and should never be administered to children.
Side Effects/Precautions for Atacand
Blurred vision, sore throat, upper respiratory infections and dizziness may occur when you take Candersartan. These are just temporary effects that your body displays as it gets adjusted to brand or generic Atacand. However, other adverse effects like severe abdominal pain, nausea, signs of infection like fever and chest pain require immediate medical attention.
You must ensure that you inform the doctor about your health history especially if you have had any kidney, heart and liver problems.
