Benicar HCT is a water pill or a thiazide diuretic. It is used to prevent the body from absorbing excess salt and thus prevents fluid retention. Benicar HCT is made from Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. This combination is very effective in treating high blood pressure. Olmesartan keeps the blood vessels from contracting and thus lowers blood pressure. This drug is taken orally and comes in the form of Benicar HCT 20mg/12.5mg, 40mg/12.5mg or 40mg/25mg tablets.
