General Information On Benicar
Benicar is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist and is used to stop blood vessels from becoming narrow. The Benicar drug is employed to improve blood circulation and lower blood pressure. It also helps the kidneys to eliminate extra fluid. Benicar contains Olmesartan, which is used to treat hypertension. This drug can be used as a standalone drug or in combination with other medicines. It is available in many variations with as such Benica 5mg, 10mg, 20mg and 40mg. Your doctor will normally start you off on a 20mg dosage and will adjust it later depending on your situation.
Side Effects/Precautions for Benicar
Olmesartan should not be used by pregnant woman. Always tell your physician if you are pregnant. Some of the side effects of generic Benicar include dizziness, nausea or upper respiratory tract infection. Benicar may also increase the levels of uric acid in the blood. Tell your doctor if you have any liver or kidney disease, congestive heart failure or even if you feel dehydrated. You should also avoid taking alcohol while on this medication. Benicar Dosage

Administering the drug twice a day does not offer any better results as compared to the same dose given once daily. The dosage remains the same for the elderly and patients with renal or hepatic impairment (which is mild to moderate in nature). Benicar can be administered either with food or without food.
