General Information On Coreg CR
Coreg CR is a prescription only drug that is used in the treatment of specific heart related ailments. It belongs to the family of drugs known as beta-adrenergic blocking agents, more commonly known as beta blockers. These agents thwart the effects of epinephrine, as a result of which the heart beats slowly and with a lower amount of force ultimately lowering the blood pressure. In addition, it also works on alpha receptors thereby relaxing the peripheral blood vessels. Coreg CR drug is indicated to treat mild to severe heart failure and hypertension. The drug is also approved for use in patients whose patients who are otherwise stable post a heart attack but the left ventricle has not returned to its normal functioning.

The active ingredient of this medication is carvedilol phosphate. Do not take the drug if you have asthma, bronchitis, arrhythmias (problem with the sinus node), slow heart rate, lung problems, thyroid disorders, severe liver disorders, atrioventricular blocks or you have a history of hypersensitivity to carvedilol phosphate or any other component of the medicine.
