General Information On Dyrenium

Dyrenium is indicated for patients who are suffering from edema caused due to nephritic syndrome, cirrhosis of the liver, or congestive heart failure. Triamterene belongs to the group of diuretics, which prevent the body from absorbing too much salt. The medicine works by increasing urine production, thus allowing for the extra loss of sodium and preventing the loss of potassium from kidneys. You can buy Dyrenium in the form of oral capsules with 50mg strength. This drug can also be used to reduce blood pressure when taken together with some other drugs.

Side Effects for Dyrenium

Dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, constipation, insomnia, and weight gain are some common side effects of the drug, but you need to watch out if you experience difficulty urinating, have a decreased cough reflex, butterfly shaped rashes on the cheeks and nose, swelling on the feet or ankles, joint or muscle pain, vision changes, muscle weakness, feel unusually hot or cold, skin discoloration, or sun sensitivity. Sometimes, Dyrenium may also cause nervous system or muscle related problems like restlessness or a constant need to keep moving, stiff muscles, a shuffling walk, tremors, feelings of anxiety, agitation, or jitteriness, trouble swallowing or drooling, severe cramping or muscle spasms, or mask-like facial expressions. As this drug may sometimes lead to tardive dyskinesia, you should look out for symptoms like uncontrolled lip smacking, tongue thrusting, mouth puckering, or chewing. Triamterene sometimes increases prolactin levels in your body, which can lead to unwanted breast milk, stopped or missed periods, difficulty getting pregnant, enlarged breasts, decreased libido, and an inability to produce sperm (males). If you get a prolonged and painful erection for more than 4 hours, you need to seek medical help immediately.

Precautions

Before you buy Dyrenium, you should inform your doctor if you have a kidney or liver disease, hyperkalemia, diabetes, heart disease, gout, kidney stones, or if you are using potassium supplements or any other diuretics. As the drug may increase your sensitivity to the sun, you should avoid being exposed to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths, and if you need to go out, you should wear protective clothes and apply sunscreen. Dyrenium decreases sweat production, so you should avoid getting overheated due to strenuous activities and hot weather.

Dyrenium Dosage

You may be asked to take an initial dose of 2 Dyrenium 50mg capsules per day, which can be increased as per your medical condition and response to treatment. A daily dose should not exceed Dyrenium 300mg a day. Take the capsules with a full glass of water without chewing, crushing or breaking them.

Interactions

Some products that may interact with Dyrenium include antispasmodic drugs, anticholinergic drugs, water pills, and drugs that increase dopamine in the body. As this drug may make you dizzy, you should avoid using other products that cause the same effect, including antihistamines, anti-anxiety medications, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers, and tranquilizers. Some drugs that may increase risks of seizure when taken with Dyrenium include tricyclic antidepressants, tramadol, theophylline, isoniazid and bupropion.
