General Information On Elidel Cream

Elidel Cream is a topical medicine used for treating skin conditions like eczema or atopic dermatitis in patients who have not responded well to topical steroids and other medications. You can buy Elidel cream to inhibit the immunity of your body so that allergic reactions causing eczema are decreased and symptoms of itchiness, irritation and redness are relieved. Pimecrolimus in Elidel Cream belongs to the category of topical calcineurin inhibitors and should not be used in children less than 2 years of age.

Side Effects for Elidel Cream

Some of the mild side effects of Elidel Cream include swollen hair follicles, burning, tingling, soreness or stinging in the affected area, acne, warts, upset stomach, muscle pain, headache, stuffy or runny nose, and increased sensitivity to cold or hot temperatures. If you experience any of these conditions, you can continue using the medicine as these side effects subside as your body gets used to Elidel Cream within a few days. However, you need to watch out for swollen glands, fever, body ache, chills, flu symptoms, worsened skin conditions, and signs of skin infections like oozing, itching, swelling or redness. If you are allergic to Elidel Cream, you may develop hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling on the face, tongue, throat or lips. Under such circumstances, you should immediately stop using this cream and seek medical help.

Precautions

Your doctor will not advise you to buy Elidel Cream if you are already suffering from a skin condition like chicken pox, herpes, or skin cancer. You should also inform your doctor if you have Netherton’s syndrome, a weak immune system due to HIV or cancer treatments, kidney disease or irritation, and redness or swelling in large areas of your body. As the medicine may lower your blood cell count, your immunity gets hampered, and you become susceptible to falling sick more easily. Therefore, try to stay away from sick people and maintain your personal hygiene too. As Elidel Cream causes harm to unborn and newborn children, you should not use it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Elidel Cream Dosage

A thin layer of Elidel Cream needs to be applied on the affected area twice a day and should be discontinued as soon as the symptoms are relieved. If you do not notice any improvement even after 6 weeks of using the cream, you should seek medical advice, as using this drug for a long period can be harmful. Store the medicine at around 25 degrees Celsius, but do not freeze it. Any kind of occlusive dressing should not be used with this cream. Make sure that Elidel Cream does not touch any other surface of your skin apart from the affected area.

Interactions

You should not use Elidel Cream if you are already using cimetidine, erythromycin, antifungal medicines like ketoconazole or fluconazole, or heart medicines like verapamil or nicardipine. Apart from these, you should inform your doctor about all the prescription and non-prescription drugs you are using at present, including creams, ointments, patches, and herbal applications.
