General Information On Emcyt
Emcyt is used for the palliative treatment of progressive or metastatic prostate cancer. Estramustine is an anti-neoplastic agent that works by controlling the abnormal propagation of the cancer cells, thus interfering with their growth and spread. You can only buy Emcyt if you do not have any history of impaired liver condition, cardiovascular disease, thromboembolic disorder, or thrombophlebitis. This drug is available in the form of oral capsules that need to be taken as prescribed by your doctor.
Side Effects for Emcyt
Vomiting, nausea, flushing, loss of appetite, headache, dry skin, decreased libido, leg cramps, and breast enlargement or tenderness in males are some of the common side effects of Emcyt. Most of these subside over time, but if any of them become intolerable, you need to inform your doctor about your symptoms. Some serious but rare side effects include worsening diabetes like increased urination and thirst, swelling on the feet or hands, seizures, and mental or mood changes like depression. Sometimes, Emcyt may also lead to stroke, heart attack, or blood clots. You should seek medical help immediately if you experience severe headache, pain in the jaw, chest or left arm, weakness on single side of the body, sudden changes in vision like loss of vision or double vision, slurred speech, pain, redness, or swelling on legs, coughing up of blood, fainting, sudden dizziness, or shortness of breath. You should also watch out for symptoms like stomach or abdominal pain, dark urine, persistent nausea or vomiting, easy bruising or bleeding, and yellowing of the skin or eyes. As Emcyt lowers your immunity, you become more susceptible to infections like chills, fever, and persistent sore throat.
Precautions
Your doctor will not recommend you to buy Emcyt if you have an allergy to estramustine or nitrogen mustard or if you are suffering from blood clotting disorders or swelling in a vein due to a blood clot. You should also inform your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, heart disease, coronary artery disease, liver or kidney disease, epilepsy, seizure disorders, migraine headaches, or metabolic bone diseases like Paget’s disease. Also inform him/her if you have a history of heart attack, stroke, or blood clots. As the drug may harm an unborn baby, a female should not become pregnant or a male should not father a child during Emcyt treatment.
Emcyt Dosage
Emcyt 140mg per 10kg of the patient’s body weight is given through 3-4 equal doses a day. You will need to take these capsules for 30-90 days, depending on your medical condition and response to the treatment. Some patients may even take as long as 3 years to achieve the desired results. You should not take Emcyt capsules with milk or milk products, as they may interact with each other. You will be advised to take the capsules on an empty stomach with a glass full of water. Avoid lying down for at least 30 minutes after taking the medicine.
Interactions
You should not buy Emcyt if you take aromatase inhibitors, corticosteroids, azole antifungals, antibiotics, HIV protease inhibitors, rifamycins, seizure medications, and St. John’s Wort. Apart from that, inform your doctor about all the medicinal products you are taking at present, including herbal products and herbal supplements.
