General Information On Epipen Junior
Epipen Junior (generic name Epinephrine) is a prescription drug used for treating intense allergic reactions (symptoms - hives, intense itching, breathing difficulties, severe dizziness, chest pain and swelling of mouth, tongue or lips) caused by insect sting or food or drugs. Epipen Junior is available in injection form. Any patient suffering from an intense allergy can use this drug and self inject it.
Epinephrine, the active ingredient of this injection is known to narrow blood vessels and open the airways in the lungs. This in turn, provides patients relief from severe skin itching and other allergy symptoms. Patients with a history of severe allergic reaction problems can always carry the Epipen Junior auto injector and use it when they suffer from a sudden allergic reaction such as bee sting. If you have been suffering from allergy problems for long, your doctor may suggest you buy Epipen Junior.
Side Effects for Epipen Junior
Epipen Junior may cause several side effects even when taken as recommended. However, not all patients using this injection experience side effects. In most cases, the side effects are minor and can be easily treated. In rare cases, however, patients may suffer severe side effects after taking an Epipen Junior injection.
The minor side effects of Epipen Junior include – mild headache, nausea, sweating, anxiousness, nervousness, weakness, dizziness, and vomiting. Although these side effects are minor, inform your doctor if they become bothersome or persist for a long time.
The other lesser known but serious side effects of Epipen Junior are – intense allergic reaction (symptoms – breathing difficulty, skin rashes, hives, severe itching, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue, or heavy chest,) irregular heartbeats, and chest pain. If you experience any of these side effects you must immediately seek medical help.
Precautions
If you are using Epipen Junior injection at home you must take necessary precautionary measures to avoid the risk of side effects. While using the injection make sure that your thumb or fingers don’t touch the tip of the injection. You should not remove the cap of the auto-injector until you are ready to use the injection. Before using the injection, inform your doctor about all your medical conditions and allergy problems.
