General Information On Eraxis
Eraxis is an antifungal antibiotic which helps the body fight fungal infections. The generic name of the medicine is anidulafungin. It is effective against fungal infections only and cannot treat viral infections. It treats Candida (yeast) infections of the blood, the lining of the abdomen, and the esophagus.
Side Effects for Eraxis
Some of the mild side effects of Eraxis are headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, and hot flashes. However, it is not necessary that every user has the same side effects. In fact, some may not experience any side effects at all. A severe allergic reaction to Eraxis is rare, but you must contact your doctor and seek immediate medical help if you suffer from any or all of the following: rashes, hives, weakness, confusion, or muscle tenderness/soreness.
Precautions
Do not buy Eraxis if you are allergic to anidulafungin or other echinocandin antifungals. The injection should be administered by a doctor in a hospital setting as it is not to be used for self-medication. The drug should be used throughout the entire treatment course and should not be stopped midway.
Inform your doctor in case you are suffering from liver disease as it may aggravate the side effects of Eraxis. In such an instance, tests will have to be conducted to ascertain if the medicine is safe to be used. Alternately, your dosage might be adjusted. Eraxis can be harmful for an unborn baby if taken by a pregnant mother, so inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant. Similarly, it is not known if Eraxis passes through breast milk, so it is recommended that you do not take the drug without consulting your doctor if you are breastfeeding your child.
Eraxis Dosage
The recommended dosage for treating infections of the blood, intra-abdominal abscesses, and peritonitis is Eraxis 200 mg on the first day, followed by Eraxis 100 mg as a daily dose thereafter. The treatment is usually continued for 14 days, although the final treatment depends on the severity of the condition.
The recommended dosage for treating esophageal candidiasis is Eraxis 100 mg on the first day, followed by Eraxis 50 mg as a daily dose thereafter. The treatment is to be continued for 14 days and an extra 7 days once the symptoms have disappeared. It is important to keep taking Eraxis even after you start feeling better. Since the drug will be administered by your doctor, you must not miss out on any of your appointments.
Interactions
Eraxis can potentially interact with certain other drugs, so make it a point to inform your doctor if you are on any kind of prescription or non prescription medications. Supplements including minerals, vitamins, or herbal products can reduce the efficiency of the medicine. You must also follow any dietary specifications that your doctor recommends since certain food items can also affect the efficacy of Eraxis.
