General Information On Exforge

Exforge is used to treat high blood pressure in patients that are at high risk for having heart attacks and strokes. It is a combination of Amlodipine and Valstartan. In most cases, generic Exforge is not prescribed unless it is not possible to bring blood pressure into an acceptable range using a single medication by itself. Amlodipine lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, while Valstartan serves to dilate blood vessels. Exforge 2.5 - 10 mg/80 - 320 mg is usually taken once per day in pill form.

Side Effects/Precautions for Exforge

Amlodipine and Valstartan should not be taken by women that are pregnant or planning to have a child. The Exforge drug is clinically proven to cause irreparable harm to developing fetuses. The most common side effects associated with Exforge include rapid heartbeat, palpitations, nausea, ear pain, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, dry mouth, gastritis, chest pain, edema and fatigue. You may also notice an increased risk of getting bronchitis, sinus infections, pharyngitis and tonsillitis.

Some patients on generic Exforge also notice joint pains/sprain, gout, increased blood sugar levels, muscle spasm, back pain, arthritis, sciatica, headache, anxiety, insomnia, depression, blood in the urine, shortness of breath, coughing, erectile dysfunction, rash and hot flashes. You should not take generic Exforge if you have an allergic reaction to Norvasc or Diovan. If you notice additional side effects such as yellowing of skin or chills, or signs of allergic reaction, you should go to the emergency room.
