General Information On Gemzar
Gemzar is a nucleoside metabolic inhibitor and is used in combination with carboplatin to treat advance ovarian cancer that has relapsed at least 6 months after the completion of platinum based treatment. The Gemzar drug is used with paclitaxel as a first-line treatment for patients with metastatic breast cancer. It is also used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer and pancreatic cancer. Gemcitabine is the main ingredient of Gemzar. Gemzar 200mg may be administered on an outpatient basis. The injection dosage may be changed by your doctor.
Side Effects/Precautions For Gemzar
Most of the adverse reactions of brand or generic Gemzar are reversible. Many patients complain of gastrointestinal problems such as nausea and vomiting. Gemcitabine may also cause hepatic complications. Very rarely, severe hepatoxicity including liver failure may also occur. Other common adverse reactions of brand or generic Gemzar include Hematuria and mild proteinuria. However, if any symptom persists or gets worse, then a doctor should be consulted at the earliest. Some patients also complain of fever, while others may develop a rash.
