General Information On Halog

Your doctor may prescribe Halog (Halcinonide) if you suffer from various skin conditions including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema, rash or allergies, as this drug helps reduce the inflammation and itchiness that accompanies such skin ailments. This drug is a topical corticosteroid that belongs to the synthetic steroids group, well known for their antipruritic, vasoconstrictive and anti inflammatory properties. Side Effects for Halog

Burning, irritation, itching, dryness, folliculitis, acneiform eruptions, perioral dermatitis, hypertrichosis, softening or thinning of the skin, skin atropy, secondary infection and miliaria are some common side effects of Halcinonide. These side effects are more frequent when the drug is used with occlusive dressings.

Other side effects include blurred vision, seeing halos, especially around lights, sleep problems or insomnia, weight gain, stretch marks, puffiness in your face, muscle weakness, extreme fatigue, mood changes, headache, swelling in the feet or ankles, and increased thirst combined with increased urination.

In extreme cases, some patients experience serious allergic reactions to this drug. While these reactions are extremely rare, they cannot be ignored. These include rash, itching or swelling of the face, mouth, tongue and throat, breathing difficulty, and severe dizziness.

Although rare, there are chances that the drug is absorbed into the bloodstream, causing the presence of excessive corticosteroids in the blood. This usually occurs only in children and not adults.
