General Information On Innohep
Innohep or tinzaparin sodium is sterile solution that contains tinzaparin sodium, a low molecular weight heparin. This drug, in the form of an injection, is used for treating blood clots, commonly in the legs and lungs. If left untreated, the blood clots may travel to the heart, brain, or lungs and may lead to serious problems like strokes, heart attack and fatal breathing problems. Innohep can also be used as an anti-coagulant or blood thinner, as it blocks natural substances in the blood that cause clotting. You can also buy Innohep if you have gone through a surgery recently and have risks of developing blood clots and the drug is prescribed by your doctor.
Side Effects for Innohep
If you are experiencing hives, swelling in the face, tongue, throat or lips, and have a breathing difficulty, then Innohep may be causing an allergic reaction in your body and you should immediately stop using it and seek medical attention. Some mild side effects of the drug may include dizziness, mild headache, back pain, fever, constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, insomnia and pain, irritation, bruising and swelling in the area where the injection was given.
These symptoms are temporary and will usually subside as your body gets used to the drug. However, you do need to be concerned if you are experiencing unusual bleeding from your nose, vagina, rectum or mouth, red or purple spots on your skin, bloody or black stools, muscle weakness in the feet and legs, coughing up blood, loss of movement in any body part, vision or speech problems, chest pain, or burning or pain while urinating. Under these circumstances, you should contact your doctor immediately and seek medical help.
Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have any history of asthma, diabetic retinopathy, high blood pressure, bacterial endocarditis, liver or kidney disease, recent ulcers, strokes, colitis, spinal deformity or recent surgery of the spine, brain or eye. As Innohep may cause stomach bleeding, you should not take alcohol while using this drug, as it may increase risks of the condition. Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking while you are on an Innohep course, as this may worsen the side effects of the drug.
Innohep Dosage
You can buy Innohep in Innohep 2ml vials. Innohep should be given as 175 anti-Xa IU per kg of the patient’s body weight. It is given once a day for 6 days initially or continued until the patient gets anticoagulated properly with Warfarin. A properly calibrated syringe needs to be used to assure that correct volume of the drug is withdrawn from the Innohep vial. Your physician will advise you of the proper dose and dosage schedule for you.
Interactions
Several drugs, including OTC drugs, may increase the risks of bleeding, and therefore, you should inform your doctor about all the drugs you are taking at present. Blood clots or bleeding around the spinal cord or brain may occur if you are using Innohep with other drugs that affect blood clotting. Such drugs may include Gentran, ReoPro, Hyskon, Fragmin, Ticlid, Acova, Refludan, Activase, Lodine, Indocin, Toradol, Feldene, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and salicylates like aspirin, Novasal, Tricosal, Doan’s Pills Extra Strength and Nuprin Backache Caplet.
