General Information on Insultard Insulin Cartridge
Insultard Insulin Cartridge contains an insulin suspension used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. One Insultard Insulin Cartridge contains 3ml of isophane insulin, which is equivalent to 300 IU (international units) of insulin. The insulin cartridge is used in a pen shaped device called an insulin pen. The Insultard insulin cartridge is a convenient option for patients who cannot visit their doctor regularly to take an insulin dose or who have difficulty drawing up insulin from a vial using a standard syringe.
The insulin pen allows the patient to adjust the dose of the insulin from the insulin cartridge. The insulin pen has a dial on the outside, which is used to adjust the amount of insulin that needs to be injected in the body. Insultard is a neutral suspension of isophane insulin crystals that are formulated for long action. You need to learn the right way of injecting insulin in your body through an insulin pen before you use the Insultard Insulin Cartridge. Consult your doctor before you buy Insultard Insulin Cartridge.
Side Effects for Insultard Insulin Cartridge
This medicine may cause hypoglycemia (a condition resulting from low blood sugar) in some patients. Some patients taking Insultard may experience local allergic reactions such as redness, itching, and swelling. The allergic reactions generally disappear as your body gets used to the insulin. Some people may also experience pain and bruising at the injection site. You should immediately call your doctor if the allergy spreads to other parts of the body. Some side effects such as visual disturbances occur very rarely during the initial period of treatment. You should seek medical help if you feel unwell or experience a breathing problem, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, vomiting, and sweating after taking the recommended dose of insulin from Insultard Insulin cartridge.
Precautions
You should not use Insultard Insulin Cartridges if you are allergic to human insulin (rDNA) or any ingredients in it. You should avoid taking insulin injections at the same site as it may result in the formation of lumps underneath the skin. You can prevent this by choosing a different injection site within the same region of your body. You should inform your doctor if you have an impairment of the kidney, adrenal gland, liver, thyroid, or pituitary glands as he/she may have to adjust the dose to suit your specific conditions. You should use the Insultard Insulin Cartridge with recommended insulin delivery systems. Since the Insultard Insulin Cartridges contains insulin suspension, you should shake it well before use or as directed so that the medication dissolves properly in the solution.
Insultard Insulin Cartridge Dosage
The dosage of insulin is individualized and adjusted in accordance to the needs of patient. Your doctor may recommend one or several insulin dosages spread throughout the day. Some patients may also need to check their blood sugar levels to determine the lowest effective dose of insulin. The dosage may also change if the patient changes his/her diet or levels of physical activity.
Interactions
Insultard may interact with other drugs and cause side effects. This medicine may interact with oral anti-diabetic products, ACE-inhibitors, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI), beta blockers, anabolic steroids, and Glucocorticoids, Danazol, Lanreotide, Sulphonamides and oral contraceptives. Insultard Insulin may also react with non-prescribed medicines.
