General Information On Lexiva
Lexiva is an antiviral drug used in the treatment of HIV which causes AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). The medication is not a cure for AIDS or HIV. The medication is available in tablet form for adults and in liquid version (oral suspension) for children. The drug blocks the protein that is required by human immunodeficiency virus to replicate itself. This drug works by preventing the HIV virus from multiplying in the body. The generic name of this medicine is Fosamprenavir Calcium and it belongs to a group of drugs known as protease inhibitors. Lexiva is effective in lowering the viral load and can be used by people who have AIDS but have not benefitted from the use of other HIV drugs. This drug is a prescription medicine which means a consultation with your doctor is necessary before you buy Lexiva.
Side Effects for Lexiva
Some people may experience side effects after taking the recommended dosage of Lexiva. You may experience nausea, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal/stomach pain after taking the drug. Lexiva Dosage
The drug is available in two forms – Lexiva 700 mg tablets and Lexiva Oral suspension 50 mg/mL. Your doctor will recommend the correct dosage for you. Your doctor may recommend a small booster dose of Norvir 100mg to increase the efficacy of Lexiva. Typically, patients who are taking protease inhibitor medicine for the first time are asked to take Novir along with Lexiva. In such cases, doctors are likely to advise a patient to take one or two tablets of Norvir with their daily dose of Lexiva. You may take the medication with food or without food.
Interactions
Lexiva may interact with other drugs and cause side effects. The drug may interact with other HIV drugs, heartburn medication, some antibiotics, antimigraine medications, antipsychotic medicines, sedatives, prostate medication, cholesterol lowering drugs, and inhaled medications. Your doctor will be aware of possible interactions of Lexiva with other drugs. Therefore, tell your doctor about all the medicines that you are taking.
