General Information on Micardis HCT
Micardis HCT is a combination of Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide and is used for the treatment of high blood pressure. Telmisartan belongs to a group of blood pressure medicines that work by preventing the hormone angiotensin II from contracting the blood vessels. As a result the blood flows more freely and keeps the blood pressure down. Hydrochlorothiazide on the other hand is a diuretic that increases the output of urine. This helps in the removal of excess fluid from the body and helps to lower blood pressure. Micardis HCT can be taken with or without food.

The common side effects of brand or generic Micardis HCT are upper respiratory tract infections, dizziness, sinus infections fatigue and diarrhoea. For renal impaired patients, Micardis HCT the dosage need not be adjusted as long as creatinine clearance is greater than 30ml/min.
