Myfortic is used to help your body accept a kidney transplant. It is usually given in combination with cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral) and a steroid. Myfortic lowers the immunity of the body. Your body's immune system can fight or reject a foreign transplant like a kidney or liver transplant, considering it to be an invader. Myfortic should be taken twice a day, preferably on an empty stomach. It is also advisable to take the medication at the same time of the day daily in order to have a constant dosing schedule. Also remember not to crush or chew the tablet. It should be taken as a whole tablet. The dosage range for brand and generic Myfortic is 180mg to 360mg.
