General Information On Nevanac

Nevanac belongs to group of Non steroidal anti-inflammatory Drugs, or NSAID. You may buy Nevanac to reduce the pain and inflammation in your eyes. You may also buy Nevanac to reduce swelling and pain after a cataract surgery.

Side Effects for Nevanac

You must stop taking Nevanac and seek emergency medical help if you are suffering from an allergic reaction to Nevanac. The symptoms of an allergic reaction include swelling of the face, throat, lips or tongue hives, and difficulty in breathing.

The occurrence of serious side effects may require you to call your doctor at once. Some of these serious side effects include vision problems, swollen eyelids, draining or crusting of the eyes and severe eye pain.

Mild side effects may occur while taking Nevanac. Some of these effects may be due to the cataract surgery and not the medication itself. These effects include a dryness or stickiness in the eye, eye redness and watering or itching of the eye. Other effects include feeling that something is in the eye, sensitivity to light, nausea, vomiting, headache and stuffy nose. Inform your doctor if these symptoms increase in intensity or if they persist for a long time.

Precautions

Do not use Nevanac if you are allergic to Nepafenac (the active ingredient in Nevanac). Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis or any other arthritis, dry eye syndrome or any bleeding or blood clotting disorder. Examples of these disorders include hemophilia. You may need to change the recommended dosage or you will be prescribed some other drug if you have the above conditions. You may also need to undergo specialized medical tests before Nevanac is administered.

Do not take Nevanac if you wear contact lenses. Talk to your doctor before taking Nevanac or remove the contact lenses before you take the medication. Nevanac may be dangerous to the health of the unborn child. The danger is especially high during the last trimester of pregnancy. Inform your doctor in advance if you are pregnant or if you are planning to become pregnant during the course of treatment. Nevanac may or may not pass into the breast milk. Do not buy Nevanac if you are breast feeding a baby without the advice of your doctor.

Nevanac Dosage

Nevanac is available as an eye drop, and it must be bought as prescribed by your doctor. The recommended dosage is one drop on the affected eye three times a day. The recommended start of Nevanac treatment is one day before the cataract surgery. The medication must not continue for more than two weeks after the surgery, unless specified by the doctor. Once you have removed your contact lenses and applied the medication, do not put your contact lenses back until at least 15 minutes have passed.

Interactions

Inform your doctor beforehand if you are presently taking or have previously taken steroids. Also, tell your doctor if you have been using any other over-the-counter or prescribed medications. This is because there may be some other medications that may interact with Nevanac. Do not start or stop any other medication, or buy Nevanac along with other medications without consulting your doctor.
