General Information on Ortho Evra
Ortho Evra is a three layered contraceptive patch that releases hormones into the bloodstream every 24 hours. It is used by sexually active and fertile women who do not wish to get pregnant. The chance of getting pregnant while using brand or generic Ortho Evra is 1%. When applied to the skin, the patch occupies an area of 20 sq. cm. This beige colored patch can be applied to the abdomen, buttocks, upper torso or near the shoulders. It is only to be used as a contraceptive and does not prevent you from contracting AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Side Effects / Precautions For Ortho Evra
Norelgestromin and Ethinyl Estradiol, the chemicals in this patch, can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headaches, a rash at the point of application, water retention and menstrual cramps.
