General Information On Prostigmin
Prostigmin is used for treating muscle-related diseases such as myasthenia gravis. The generic name of this drug is Neostigmine and it belongs to a category of para-sympathomimetic drugs. You can buy Prostigmin in oral tablet form. It works by interfering with the break down of acetylcholine, a natural substance that is required for normal functioning of our muscles. Neostigmine acts selectively on skeletal muscles only. It does not affect the central nervous system of the patient. This medicine can also be used for countering or reversing effects of other muscle relaxants.
Side Effects for Prostigmin
Some of the most commonly reported side effects of Prostigmin are drooling or watery eyes, increased urination or sweating, mild stomach pain, vomiting or nausea, dizziness, weakness, muscle cramps, headache, and joint pain. Most of these are side effects are mild in nature and they usually get better on their own as the patient’s body gets used to the medicine. Precautions
Your doctor will not advise you to buy Prostigmin if you have a serious condition of stomach such as peritonitis or if you have a bowel or bladder obstruction. He/she may ask you to take special tests and may alter your dose if you are suffering from the following – asthma, epilepsy or any other seizure disorder, heart rhythm disorder, overactive thyroid or stomach ulcer, or if you have a problem in your circulation or blood vessels. Generally, larger doses of Prostigmin are given during afternoons and evenings, especially to patients who are experiencing fatigue. The drug may take some time to start working, but its effects are usually long-lasting.
Interactions
Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor if you are taking anti-bacterial medications such as kanamycin or neomycin, or heart rhythm medicines such as procainamide, mexiletine or quinidine. In addition to these, you should also tell your healthcare provider if you are taking atropine, clidinium, belladonna, glycopyrrolate, mepenzolate or scopolamine. Let your doctor know about all medications that you are currently taking.
