General Information On Qvar
Qvar is a steroid which prevents the discharge of substances that cause inflammation in the body. The Qvar drug inhalation is also used for prophylaxis, treatment of bronchial asthma or preventing asthma attacks. However, it fails to treat an attack of asthma that has already set off. This is a synthetic glucocorticoid that creates an anti-inflammatory action on the lungs. Qvar Autohaler, a breath-actuated inhaler automatically discharges the measured dose of medication on inhalation through the mouthpiece, thus overcoming the need for patients to exercise skilled manual co-ordination. Rather use some other fast-acting inhalation during an asthma attack. It is usually not recommended for children aged less than 5 years.
Side Effects / Precautions For Qvar
Get emergency medical help in the event of an allergic reaction such as hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of mouth or throat. Call your doctor immediately if you experience nausea, loss of appetite, weakness, weight loss, skin rash, bruising, numbness, pain or muscle, weakness or worsening asthma symptoms after using brand or generic Qvar. Headache, stuffy nose, mouth dryness, sinus pain or coughs are the less serious side effects. Beclomethasone is not used in the event of an asthma attack as it does not work so efficiently to reverse the symptoms.
In case you are using a bronchodilator as well, use it first before brand or generic Qvar. For adults and adolescents, the recommended dose is 40 mcg to 80 mcg taken twice daily. The highest recommended dose is 320 mcg taken twice daily. For children aged between 5 to 11 years, it should be 40 mcg taken twice daily. The highest recommended dose is 80 mcg taken twice daily. Before using for the very first time, prime Qvar by actuating twice into the air. It does not require shaking. For patients five years or older, administer it through the oral inhaled route.
