General Information on Radiesse
Radiesse is used in several cosmetics, therapeutic applications, and reconstructive therapies in order to enhance soft tissues like folds, contours, and wrinkles on the face. In other words, this product is used to correct lines on the face such as wrinkles and nasolabial folds. The generic name of the product is Hydroxylapatite Microspheres , which is part of a group of medications known as volumizing fillers. Radiesse has to be injected right into the affected area. It works by stimulating collagen growth, the results of which last for around one year.
Side Effects for Radiesse
After the Radiesse injection, a patient may experience bruising, redness, or swelling at the site of the injection. Most of these symptoms subside, but if any of these become intolerable, you should immediately contact your doctor. You should also tell your doctor if you sense any firmness or unevenness in the injected area, as this may be a sign of infection. Sometimes, Radiesse may also lead to numbness or tingling in the skin, nausea, mild headache, or itching or pain around the treated area.
An allergic reaction to Radiesse can be identified by rashes, difficulty breathing, hives, swelling or itching of the throat, tongue, face or lips and severe dizziness. If you experience any of these, you should immediately contact your doctor for medical help.
Precautions
The doctor must be aware if you suffer from acute inflammation, malignancy, infection, or foreign bodies in the area to be treated. You should also tell him/her if you have an advancing disease, especially in the upper respiratory tract, or if you have been suffering from a vocal disorder or bilaterial laryngeal paralysis. Radiesse should not be administered into the blood vessels of the patient, as this may lead to platelet aggregation, infarction, vascular occlusion, hemolysis, or embolic phenomena. It should not be over-injected in the vocal fold either, as it may lead to a site rupture. Radiesse comes in a non-pyrogenic and sterile sealed foil pouch, meant for one-time use only. You must not re-sterilize the syringes to use them later.
Radiesse Dosage
One shot of Radiesse will be used to treat one area of the face. This is meant to be a minimal invasive process, and the injection will be administered with 27G or 28G needles. Before giving you the shot, your doctor will apply a local anesthesia and antiseptic in the area. Radiesse will be administered under your skin in your subcutaneous layer. The area where the injection will be given depends on the area that needs to be treated. It may take around 15 minutes for the treatment to get completed, and its effects may last for more than one year.
Interactions
Medicinal products including NSAIDs, high Vitamin E doses, aspirin, and St. John’s Wort should not be taken at least one week before Radiesse treatment, as this may lead to increased risks of bruising or bleeding. Apart from that, you should inform your doctor about all the medications you are using at present, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, and health supplements. Depending on such information, your doctor will decide whether he/she should recommend you to buy Radiesse or not.
