General Information On Regranex
Regranex is a gel used in treatment of specific neuropathic diabetic foot/leg ulcers. The generic name of this drug is Becaplermin Topical. The medication contains Becaplermin, which is similar to a human protein (platelet-derived growth factor-BB) that stimulates the cells to multiply, promoting normal growth of a tissue and healing of a wound. The Regranex gel can cause severe side effects if it is used for unintended purposes. Therefore, you must consult your doctor before you buy Regranex to avoid the risk of side effects.
Side Effects for Regranex
Some people may experience serious side effects after using this medication. Rash, dizziness, breathing problem, itching, and swelling of the tongue/face/throat are some of the side effects that you may experience after applying the gel. Regranex Dosage
The Regranex Gel is available in a Regranex 15gm tube.. The management and treatment of diabetic wound is quite a difficult task. You should get your diabetic wound/ulcer treated with Regranex under your doctor’s supervision. The diabetic ulcer should be cleaned with saline solution or water before applying Regranex Gel. A clean cotton swab or tongue depressor should be used to apply the medication on the ulcer. The gel should be applied as a thin layer to the ulcer once in a day. The dose of the Regranex gel is measured by length and width of gel squeezed from the tube. You doctor will recommend the dose of the medication that needs to be applied on the wound. The amount of medication for the wound depends on the size of ulcer
For example, if the size of the ulcer is 4cm x 2cm, the quantity of the medication can be determined by this formula: (4 x 2) / 4 = 2. It means a 2cm length of gel should be applied on the ulcer.
You should learn the right way of measuring gel and applying it on the wound if you are going to self manage the application of medication at home. The site should not be left opened after application of medication. You should cover it with moistened saline gauze dressing to keep the site moist during the healing process. You should be careful while applying the gel and ensure that it does not get contaminated with bacteria. You should take precautionary measures during the treatment of diabetic ulcers such as keeping the wound site clean and not applying any pressure on the wound site.
Regranex Interactions
Regranex may interact with other medicines and cause side effects. Your doctor will be aware of possible interaction of Regranex with other medicines.
