General Information on Sporanox

Sporanox is an antifungal medication used for curing a variety of fungal infections affecting the mouth, throat, lungs, fingernails, and toenails. It is also used to prevent and treat fungal infections in patients infected with HIV. Sporanox contains itraconazole and is a type of triazole antifungal agent. It is available for oral administration in the form of capsules as well as syrup and can also be given intravenously. Sporanox works by inhibiting fungi growth by preventing the creation of fungi cell membranes.

Side Effects for Sporanox

During the initial days of Sporanox treatment, you may suffer from common side effects like diarrhea, mild stomach ache, constipation, skin rash or mild itching, dizziness, headache, runny nose, and other flu symptoms. In rare cases, you may experience serious side effects like hives, swelling of the lips, face, throat or tongue, hearing trouble, clay colored stools, breathing problems, burning sensation during urination, nausea, loss of appetite, or sudden weight gain after you buy Sporanox and use it. If this happens, stop using the medication and consult your doctor immediately. Sporanox can rarely cause liver disease that can prove to be fatal. Sporanox Dosage

Sporanox 100mg capsules and Sporanox oral solution are available in the market. The daily dose of Sporanox should not exceed 400mg. Capsules should be taken with meals for maximum absorption. In case of a life threatening situation, Sporanox 200mg IV is administered twice. Sporanox capsules and oral solution should not be used interchangeably. The medicine should be stored at room temperature away from light and heat. If you miss the dose of the medicine, take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take two doses at one time. If you suspect an overdose, contact the emergency room immediately.

Interactions

HIV patients should inform their doctors about their medical condition before they start using Sporanox.
