General Information On Suprefact Depot

Suprefact Depot or Buserelin Acetate is a drug used in hormonal therapy for curing prostate cancer in men and endometriosis in women. Buserelin Acetate works like gonadotropin releasing hormone (LHRH or GnRH), that is produced by the hypothalamus grand present in our brain. GnRH carries a message to the pituitary gland located in the brain, which in turns sends a message to female ovaries and male testicles to increase the production of sex hormones (estrogen and testosterone). S Suprefact Depot helps cure prostate cancer by reducing testosterone production and cures endometriosis by reducing the levels of estrogen in blood that lead to the excessive growth of tissues in uterus.

Side Effects for Suprefact Depot

Some of the common side effects during the initial days of taking Suprefact Depot include impotency, reduction in sexual desire, hot flashes, and night sweats. In rare cases, users can also observe a loss of appetite, itching/burning/rashes/swelling at the place of injection, headache and nausea, nosebleeds, and swelling in the body. You should stop taking the medicine immediately and consult your physician if you notice bone pain, numbness in the limbs, have a problem urinating, have chest pain, breathing difficulty, palpitation, and shortness of breath.

Precautions

Inform your doctor about all the non-prescription and prescription medications or supplements that you are using or any allergies that you have before starting with Suprefact Depot. Prolonged use of Suprefact Depot can cause thinning of bones and so, patients prone to osteoporosis and menopausal females should use this medicine cautiously. This medication is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women and those who are planning to conceive. If you are suffering from prostate cancer and have your testicles removed or if you are suffering from non-hormone dependent cancer, you should not use Suprefact Depot. Females with abnormal vaginal bleeding should also avoid taking this drug.

Suprefact Depot Dosage

You can buy Suprefact Depot in form of a nasal solution and injection. You can buy Suprefact Depot 2 month or buy Suprefact Depot 3 month; both contain 6.6 mg and 9.9 mg of Buserelin Acetate respectively. Usually, for patients suffering from prostate cancer, doctors will start with a Suprefact Depot 500mg injection 3 times a day every week. After a week, Suprefact Depot 200mg injections are given once a day, or you can even take Suprefact depot 400 µg nasal spray thrice a day.

For women suffering from endometriosis, Suprefact depot 500 µg nasal spray is recommended to be used three times a day for 6-9 months. Always use the injection syringe and the spray pump that comes with Suprefact Depot. You should take your medication as per the dosage schedule prescribed by the doctor. Do not alter the dosage or stop taking the medication without consulting your health service provider. If Suprefact Depot is prescribed for long-term use, a Buserelin Acetate implant may be attached to your abdominal wall and will have to be refilled every two months.

Interactions

Before taking Suprefact Depot, inform your doctor about all the prescription, non-prescription, herbal, or over the counter medications that you are using. This drug can interact with any medication containing estrogen, testosterone and androgens, medicines such as prednisone that decreases bone density, and anti-diabetic medications. Suprefact Depot can also have negative interactions with antipsychotics, Antiarrhythmic medications belonging to Class IA, Class III or Class IC, opioids, antidepressants, quinolone antibiotics, receptor antagonists, and azole antifungals.
