General Information On Sutent
Sutent is an anti-cancer medication used primarily to treat two diseases- Imatinib resistant Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) and Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC). It belongs to a class of drugs called Receptor Tyrosine Kinase inhibitors (RTK inhibitors). For patients suffering from RCC, Sutent is a standard first line drug, whereas for patients suffering from GIST, this medication usually forms a part of a new treatment regimen directed at those patients who haven't been satisfactorily treated with Imatinib.
Side Effects/Precautions For Sutent
Sutent or Sunitinib is by and large well tolerated. Manageable side effects of brand or generic Sutent include dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, bleeding disorders and constipation. Pregnant women and women planning to get pregnant must not consume brand or generic Sutent as it may harm the fetus.
