General Information On Tarceva
Tarceva is an anti-cancer medication mainly used to treat two types of cancers - advanced Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and advanced Pancreatic Cancer. Apart from these two conditions, it is sometimes also used to treat other types of cancers. Patients who are required to take Tarceva for NSCLC must make sure that they are not on any other medication for the same illness. This drug acts by suppressing tyrosine kinase and subsequently effecting a conformational change within the cancerous cells.

Tarceva Dosage
Tarceva is advised to be taken as a daily dose of 150 mg. It is recommended to be taken at least an hour before or two hours after eating food. In the case of pancreatic cancer, the recommended dosage is 100 mg which has to be taken along with gemcitabine. A reduction in the dosage of Tarceva becomes necessary for patients who develop diarrhea or skin reactions. The dose can be brought down by 50mg. A doctor may increase the dose of the medicine if no other alternate treatment is available. The patient should be monitored at a 2 week period when there is an increase in dosage. The maximum dose in combination with rifampicin is restricted to 450 mg.
