General Information on Temovate
Consumers buy Temovate for the treatment of certain scalp and skin conditions, such as dermatitis (a skin condition marked by inflammation), psoriasis, rashes etc. In some cases, doctors may also prescribe this medicine for treatment of skin conditions on parts of the body other than the scalp. A strong corticosteroid, this medication works by reducing the symptoms associated with the aforementioned skin conditions, such as redness, itching, and swelling.
Side Effects of Temovate
An individual may experience dryness, redness, irritation, burning, itching, or stinging when he/she applies Clobetasol to the skin/scalp for the first time. In most cases, these symptoms disappear on their own accord within a few days. In case you notice that these symptoms persist even after a few days, then you should immediately contact your doctor.
This medication may cause serious side effects such as: excessive hair growth, folliculitis (characterized by a large swollen bump or mass), stretch marks or striae, or discoloration of the skin. You must contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately if you notice any of the above-mentioned symptoms.
Although it is highly uncommon for this medication to seep into the bloodstream, in rare cases, this may happen. When this happens, the patient is likely to show the following side effects: vision problems, persistent headache, swelling in ankles and/or feet, weight loss, fatigue, or increased urination and/or thirst. Generally, it has been found that the medication enters the bloodstream in children, those who use this medication for an extended period of time, and those who apply the medication on a large area of the skin.
In rare cases, patients may notice worsening of skin infections after applying this medication. You must contact your doctor promptly if the symptoms become worse.
In the rarest cases, a serious allergic reaction to this medication may occur. When it does, the patient must immediately contact his/her doctor. The symptoms of serious allergic reaction are: trouble breathing, swelling or itching in certain parts of the body (especially throat, tongue, skin or face), skin rashes, or dizziness.
Precautions
People who are allergic to Clobetasol should not use this medication. If you are allergic to this substance, then inform the same to your doctor when seeking treatment for a scalp/skin infection. In addition, you must also inform your doctor about any other allergies that you may have. Furthermore, make it a point to apprise your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have diabetes, immune system problems, weak blood circulation, or other scalp/skin conditions.
Pregnant women should buy Temovate and use it only when directed by their doctor. It is not known whether this medication passes into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding, then consult your doctor before using this medication.
Temovate Dosage
Your doctor will tell you the dosage, depending on the seriousness of your scalp/skin condition. Generally, the medication is used twice daily in the morning and evening.
Temovate Interactions
Clobetasol may interact with other drugs. This is why it is necessary that you inform your doctor about all the medications that you are currently using. This includes prescribed medications, non-prescribed medications, and herbal medicines.
