General Information On Trivastal
Trivastal is used for treating both early and advanced stages of Parkinson’s disease. Its generic name is Piribedil, and it belongs to the category of drugs termed anti-Parkinsonian agents or piperazine derivatives. You can buy Trivastal in the form of 50mg oral tablets. The drug works by altering the signal processes of the brain, which are responsible for reasoning, motor movements, and comprehension. Trivastal can be used either alone or with other drugs in order to treat the disease.
Side Effects for Trivastal
Trivastal is an anti-Parkinsonian agent, which can cause adverse gastrointestinal reactions in the patient, such as vomiting, nausea and flatulence. These side effects can be managed by making slight dosage adjustments. Trivastal can also trigger somnolence in patients, as one may suddenly fall asleep while working actively. Psychological disturbances may also occur, such as agitation or confusion. It can also lead to instable blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension. Some other side effects of Trivastal may include optic pain, hallucinations, bladder disorders, and anorexia. It is also known to adversely affect the clearance of creatinine. If you experience any of these side effects, you should immediately stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor.
Since Trivastal contains colorants, you may develop an allergic reaction. This can be identified by hives, difficulty breathing, severe dizziness and swelling on the face, tongue, throat or lips. If you show any of these symptoms, you should immediately stop taking Trivastal and seek medical attention.
Precautions
Trivastal is contraindicated in patients with an allergy to Piribedil, or in patients suffering from cardiovascular shock or myocardial infarction in the acute phase. Before you buy Trivastal, you should also inform your doctor if you are suffering from a liver, heart or kidney disease, or if you have fructose intolerance, sucrose-isomaltase deficiency or galactose or glucose malabsorption. The drug is mostly given to elderly patients who have no risk of getting pregnant, but if you are of a child-bearing age and your doctor has prescribed Trivastal, you should make sure that you are not pregnant or breastfeeding a child during treatment as the safety of this drug during these conditions is not yet established.
Trivastal Dosage
For treating Parkinson’s disease, you will be given Trivastal 50mg one to four tablets a day, divided into one to four doses, one pill at a time. If you are using this tablet for treating cerebral aging, you will be advised to take Trivastal 50mg one tablet a day. For severe conditions, you may also be asked to take one tablet twice a day. You will need to take Trivastal with meals.
Interactions
Dopamine antagonists are known to reduce the efficiency of Trivastal. You should also avoid taking atypical antipsychotics such as clozapine and ziprasidone, antiemetics such as droperidol, and metoclopramide and tricyclic antidepressants such as clomipramine and amoxapine. As Trivastal causes dizziness, you should not take it with other drugs that cause the same effects. These include sedatives, narcotic pain relievers, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medicines, anti-seizure medicines, muscle relaxants, sleeping pills, and tranquilizers.
