General Information On Tyzeka

Tyzeka is an anti-viral medicine used for treating chronic Hepatitis B infection in adult patients. Its generic name is Telbivudine, and it belongs to the class of drugs known as thymidine nucleoside analogues. This medicine is available in an oral tablet form. It works by preventing viral cells from spreading in the patient’s body, so that they cannot infect any new liver cells. Tyzeka is not meant to be used in patients less than 16 years of age. It is used only after histologic, serologic and biochemical tests and is not a cure for Hepatitis B.

Side Effects for Tyzeka

After taking Tyzeka, some patients may commonly experience sore throat, cough, tiredness, headache, dizziness, muscle ache, low fever, itching, mild skin rash, bloating, vomiting, mild nausea, diarrhea, back pain, joint pain, and insomnia. These are only experienced initially and subside as your body adjusts to the drug. However, you should immediately seek medical help if you experience muscle weakness or tenderness, dark colored urine, pain, a tingly feeling or burning in the legs or arms, fever, or symptoms of flu. Tyzeka can also cause liver problems in some patients, the symptoms of which are pain in the upper stomach, low fever, dark urine, loss of appetite, jaundice, and clay-colored stools. Sometimes, Tyzeka may also lead to lactic acidosis in some patients. It can be identified by trouble breathing, muscle weakness or pain, cold or numb feeling in the legs or arms, dizziness, lightheadedness, extreme weakness, uneven heart rate, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.

You should not continue taking Tyzeka if you have an allergic reaction to it. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include hives, rashes, difficulty breathing, severe dizziness, and swelling of the face, throat, tongue or lips.

Precautions

Before you buy Tyzeka, you should inform your doctor if you have HIV or AIDS, kidney disease, Hepatitis C or D, or if you have had a liver transplant. You can pass Hepatitis B to other people through unprotected sex, or by sharing toothbrushes or razors. Hepatitis B can also pass on to an unborn baby, and therefore, you should inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Tyzeka should not be given to a patient younger than 16 years of age.

Tyzeka Dosage

If you are an adult and are suffering from chronic Hepatitis B, you will be given Tyzeka 600mg once a day. The tablet should be taken orally with or without meals. The dosage can be adjusted as per the patient’s medical condition and response to the treatment.
