General Information On Ultravate
This medicine is a high-potency steroid drug. The drug is used for treating the symptoms of inflammation and itching. Such inflammation and itching is caused by several skin disorders. The medicine is absorbed by the skin and may enter the blood stream. The Ultravate drug may cause certain side effects such as high blood pressure, weight gain and emotional disturbances. The other side effects of this drug are an increased level of sugar in urine and blood and Cushing’s syndrome. You should not wrap or bandage the affected area, until or unless it is directed by your doctor. The medicine is meant to be used only on the skin and should not be allowed to enter the eyes.

Do not apply brand or generic Ultravate to the groin area, armpits or face. If you are using this medicine for treating a baby’s diaper area, then make sure you do not use plastic pants for the baby. You also should not use tight diapers for the baby, as this may lead to the increased absorption of the drug. Halobetasol is the main ingredient of this drug. It should be used once or twice daily, depending on your doctor’s advice. Ultravate should be completely rubbed into the skin. You should not use more than 50 g/wk of this medicine.
