General Information On Vepesid
Vepesid, also referred to as VP-16, is used to treat lung and testicular cancer. The generic name of this drug is Etoposide, and it works by interfering with the division of cancer cells. You can buy Vepesid in the form of oral capsules or injections. The drug is available in Vepesid 20 mg/ml or Vepesid 50 mg strengths. The following ingredients are present in its formulation: Etoposide, glycerin, gelatin, purified water, sorbitol, and parabens.
Side Effects for Vepesid
Vepesid may cause some unwanted side effects. The intensity and severity of side effects vary from patient to patient. Some may experience serious side effects after taking Vepesid, while others who buy Vepesid may experience mild or no side effects. Before starting treatment, talk to your doctor about the risks associated with the treatment.
Common and mild side effects of this drug are: temporary hair loss, mild nausea, stomach ache, vomitting, or mild skin rash or itching. Do not stop your medication if you experience any of these mild side effects. With that said, you should consult your doctor if any of these symptoms exacerbate or continue to occur for a long time.
Less common but serious side effects of Vepesid are: severe nausea or vomitting, flu symptoms, chills, fever, body aches, easy bruising, unusual bleeding, fast heart rate, fainting, white sores or patches on the lips or inside the mouth, low fever, stomach ache, appetite loss, clay-colored stools, yellowing of the eyes or skin and dark-colored urine. You must contact your doctor as soon as you notice any of the aforementioned symptoms.
Seek emergency medical help if you show signs of hypersensitivity to Vepesid (hives, swelling of the lips or face, skin rashes or itching, wheezing, shortness of breath, or trouble breathing).
Precautions
Vepesid is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to Etoposide or any other ingredient present in its formulation. To ensure that the drug is safe for you, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have/have had a weak immune system or liver disease, before you start treatment.
Do not take Vepesid if you are pregnant as it can harm an unborn child. It is unclear if the contents of this drug are excreted into breast milk or if Vepesid can cause harm to a breastfeeding child. If you are breastfeeding, you must take this drug only after consulting your doctor.
Your doctor may ask you to undergo certain tests to evaluate the safety of Vepesid, so make sure you take all the prescribed tests on time.
Vepesid Dosage
Your doctor will prescribe the correct dose for you. For best results, follow your doctor’s instructions and take Vepesid exactly as directed by him/her. Do not increase or decrease the dosage, as it may worsen your condition or cause new complications.
Interactions
Other drugs such as cyclosporine may interact with Vepesid, decreasing its effectiveness or increasing the risk of certain side effects. You can easily prevent unwanted drug interactions by apprising your doctor about all the medications that you are taking, including all herbal and over-the-counter drugs.
