General Information On Voltaren Eye Drops
Voltaren eye drops are used to relieve pain and inflammation after a cataract or corneal refractive surgery. After any kind of eye surgery, the eye becomes sensitive to light. This drug helps in relieving the pain and sensitivity to light. The generic name of the drug is Diclofenac Ophthalmic. It belongs to a class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs. It functions by reducing the hormones that cause inflammation in the eye.
Side Effects for Voltaren Eye Drops
Before you buy Voltaren eye drops, you must realize that almost all drugs have some side effects but are still prescribed because the benefits usually far outweigh the side effects. In case you are using Voltaren eye drops, you may experience certain side effects such as mild stinging or burning in the eye, swollen eyelids, headache, nausea, crusting around the eyes, blurred vision immediately after using the drops, etc.

Using Voltaren eye drops causes blurred vision and slight discomfort in the eye. Therefore, it is important that you do not drive or operate heavy machinery immediately afterward using it.
Voltaren Eye Drops Dosage
Voltaren eye drops is available as an ophthalmic solution in a multi dose bottle. Each Voltaren eye drops bottle contains 5 ml of the solution. The exact dosage required will depend on the kind of surgery you have undergone. Your doctor will advise you on the dosage adequately.
For example, if a patient is undergoing a corneal refractive surgery, 1-2 drops should be applied within an hour prior to the surgery. 1-2 drops need to be applied again within 15 minutes post surgery. Patients are asked to apply the drops for up to 3 days following surgery, 4 times a day. Voltaren eye drops dosage for patients undergoing cataract surgery is one drop 4 times daily starting 24 hours after the surgery, to the eye that was operated, and continuing for 2 weeks postoperatively.
In case you use contact lenses, you must remove them before taking the drops. Do not allow the dropper to touch the surface of your eye as it this may lead to infection.
Interactions
