Welchol is used to treat high cholesterol. It is a part of treatment which also focuses on proper diet and exercise to lower the levels of cholesterol in the blood. The generic name of Welchol is Colesevelam Hydrochloride. It belongs to a group of drugs known as bile acid sequestrants. The liver produces bile acid by using cholesterol.
