General Information On Xeomin
Xeomin is used for treating eye disorders like strabismus and blepharospasm, muscle movement disorders and spasms like cervical dystonia and torticollis, and for reducing anti-aging marks like wrinkles. Botulinum toxin type A is a neurotoxin and is administered into the muscle that needs to be treated. It works by relaxing the muscles by blocking the release of a chemical called acetylcholine. Sometimes, your doctor may recommend you to buy Xeomin in order to prevent a headache, especially if you have very frequent migraines.
Side Effects for Xeomin
As Xeomin is administered through an injection given at the site that needs to be treated, you may experience pain, infection, bruising, or redness at the site of the injection. Some mild side effects associated with the drug include dizziness, difficulty swallowing, pain, nausea, muscle weakness, headache, and respiratory infections like flu or cold. If you are using the drug to treat an eye condition, you may notice swollen or drooping eyelids, dry eyes, double vision, eye irritation, reduced blinking, increased sensitivity to light, and tearing up. If any of these symptoms become intolerable, you may need to inform your doctor, who will suggest that you use a protective eye drop, ointment, or eye patch. If you are using Xeomin for preventing migraine attacks, you may experience drooping eyelids and neck pain. For treatment for excessive sweating, you may experience non-underarm sweating, anxiety, and respiratory infections like cold or flu, fever, headache, and back or neck pain.
Precautions
Before taking Xeomin, you should inform your doctor if you have a medical history of bleeding problems, glaucoma, eye surgery, heart disease, or signs of an infection around the site of the injection. You also need to tell your doctor if you have a muscle or nerve disorder like ALS, myasthenia gravis, seizures, breathing problems like asthma, aspiration type pneumonia and emphysema, or trouble swallowing. As this drug may lead to muscle weakness, blurred vision, and droopy eyelids, you should not drive or do any such activity that requires you to have clear vision. If you are going to have a surgery, then do not forget to tell your doctor that you are on Xeomin treatment. You should also avoid taking this drug if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Xeomin Dosage
The injection site is chosen on the basis of different factors including the muscle that needs treatment, degree of the medical condition, muscle mass, body weight, and previous treatments. For treating cervical dystonia, you will be given an initial dose of Xeomin 120 units, but for blepharospasm, the mean dose will be Xeomin 33 units with a range of 10-50 units. The mean number of the injections will be 6 per eye. The maximum dose will be Xeomin 50 units per eye with a dose range of 10-50 units.
Interactions
Your doctor may not recommend you to buy Xeomin if you are already using certain antibiotics like aminoglycosides including polymyxin and gentamicin, anticoagulants like warfarin, Alzheimer’s disease medicines like donepezil, tacrine, rivastigmine, and galantamine, myasthenia gravis drugs like ambenonium and pyridostigmine, and quinidine.
