General Information On Zaditor Opthalmic Drops
Zaditor is a non-prescription antihistamine eye-drop which can last up to 12 hours with just one drop. It is used to treat itching of eyes caused by allergies (seasonal/allergic conjunctivitis). Zaditor should generally be applied twice a day or as directed by the doctor. You should always wash your hands before applying the drops. Try not to touch the dropper tip to avoid contamination. You should ask your doctor about the use of contact lenses if you are using Zaditor. Even if your doctor lets you use the drops while using contact lenses, you should remove your lenses before using the drops and wait for at least 10 minutes before putting back your lenses. You should not use Zaditor for the treatment of irritation from contact lenses.
Side Effects / Precautions for Zaditor
Zaditor (Ketotifen Fumarate Ophthalmic Solution) can cause burning/stinging/irritation in eyes, headache, bad taste in mouth, stuffy or running nose or increased sensitivity to light. You should consult your doctor immediately if any of these symptoms occur on using brand or generic Zaditor.
Other side effects of using the Ketotifen Fumarate Ophthalmic Solution are an allergic reaction which can include itching, rash, swelling (especially of throat/face/tongue), severe dizziness or trouble in breathing. You should consult your doctor before taking brand or generic Zaditor if you are pregnant or are planning to conceive. Children below 3 years of age should not be given Zaditor drug without consulting a doctor.
Zaditor Dosage
Zaditor is an ophthalmic solution that is available in 5 ml bottles. The recommended dosage in adults is 1 drop in the affected eye or eyes, twice every day, meaning once every 8 to 12 hours. It is recommended not to put more than 2 drops in a day. In children between 3 years of age and above, the recommended dosage of Zaditor is 1 drop in the affected eye or eyes, twice every day with a gap of 8 to 12 hours between doses. For children below 3 years of age it is better to consult your doctor for the prescribed dosage.
