Zoladex Depot is a medication for the treatment of prostate cancer in men and breast cancer or endometriosis in women. It is also taken for preparing the uterus lining for performing endometrial ablation, which is a surgery for correcting unusual uterine bleeding. The generic name for this medication is goserelin. It is administered as a subcutaneous injection, and the drug itself releases over a period of 28 days. Zoladex Depot works by overstimulating the production of some hormones in the body, and consequently causing it to stop functioning for a certain amount of time. You can only buy Zoladex Depot to treat the symptoms of cancer, but not the cancer itself.

Side Effects for Zoladex Depot

Zoladex Depot may cause an allergic reaction, which is characterized by difficulty breathing, hives, and swollen lips, tongue, throat, and face. You must inform your doctor immediately if you suffer from any serious side effects of Zoladex Depot, which include the following:

• Pale and easily bruised skin
• Breathing trouble
• Feeling like passing out
• Blood in the stools or urine
• Burning sensation or pain while urinating
• Loss of control over bladder and bowel function
• Muscle fatigue and problems with body coordination and balance
• Severe numbness or tingling in the feet and legs
• Heavy feeling or pain in the chest, with the pain spreading to the shoulder or arm
• Severe nausea and sweating
• Sudden weakness or numbness, severe headaches, dry mouth, hunger, fruity mouth odor, dry skin, drowsiness, weight loss, and blurred vision
• Loss of appetite, nausea, confusion, fatigue, restlessness, and increased thirst

Other mild side effects may also occur while taking Zoladex Depot. Inform your doctor if these mild side effects persist for a long time or if they worsen:

• Sweating, dizziness, headaches, and hot flashes
• Acne, mild skin rashes, or itching
• Sleep problems
• Diarrhea or constipation
• Breast tenderness or swelling, bone pain
• Lower occurrence of erections or impotence
• Vaginal discharge, itching, or dryness
• Increased or decreased libido
• Mood swings

Precautions

Do not buy Zoladex Depot if you are allergic to hormonal medications similar to goserelin, such as nafarelin, ganirelix or leuprolide. Inform your doctor if you have low bone density, osteoporosis, diabetes, urination problems, a personal history of heart attacks or strokes, spine conditions, and abnormal bleeding if you are a woman. Zoladex Depot can be harmful to an unborn child, and may pass into breast milk. Although Zoladex Depot is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, it may be specially prescribed as treatment of advanced stage breast cancer in pregnant women.

Zoladex Depot Dosage

Zoladex Depot is injected subcutaneously as a depot injection under the skin of the upper stomach. It is administered by a trained medical professional in a hospital or clinic setting. Zoladex Depot is generally injected every 3 months, but this cycle may be altered in specific cases when you are also undergoing chemotherapy. The doctor’s dosage must be adhered to, and a new depot injection must be injected on the time scheduled.
