General Information On Zylet Eye Drops

Zylet eye drops are used as an ophthalmic solution. It is indicated for the treatment of steroid responsive inflammatory conditions of the eye. It is used for treating superficial bacterial infections of the eye. It is also used when there is a risk to bacterial infection to the eye. The drug is indicated for treating the inflammation of bulbar conjunctiva, palpebral conjunctiva and cornea. The drug is also used for allergic conjunctivitis, superficial-punctate keratitis, acne rosacea, iritis, herpes zoster and cyclitis. Brand or generic Zylet eye drops act through the lipocortins which are phospholipase A2 inhibitory-proteins. Lipocortins control the synthesis of inflammatory mediators in the body, such as PG (prostaglandins) and the leukotrienes. Thus, the drug acts similarly to the corticoids.

Side Effects / Precautions For Zylet Eye Drops

Some common and less serious side effects of Zylet eye drops are burning sensation in the eye, feeling of stinging in the eye, general discomfort of the eye, mild itching or reddening of the eye. Let your ophthalmologist know if you have any of these side effects and continue using the drug. However, get medical help if these side effects become bothersome or worsen. Tobramycin/ Loteprednol Etabonate may lead to severe allergic reactions also such as hives, rashes, itching, tightness within the chest, swelling in the tongue, lips, face or mouth and difficulty in breathing.

If you have any of the above mentioned allergic reactions upon administering Tobramycin/ Loteprednol Etabonate then get medical attention at once. Also the drug may lead to certain serious side effects, which may include changes/ alterations in the vision, blurred vision, photosensitivity (sensitivity to light), reddening/ swelling/ discharge from the eyes, severe pain or worsening of pain and unusual tearing. Let your ophthalmologist know if you have any of these side effects of Zylet drug.

Dosages For Zylet Eye Drops

The recommended dose of Zylet eye drops is 1 or 2 drops to be administered every 4 to 6 hours in a day. The drug is administered as ophthalmic solution by putting the drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (or both the eyes, as directed by the ophthalmologist). The initial treatment (that is the first 24 to 48 hours period) is 1 to 2 drops of the drug to be administered into the conjunctival sac in every 1 to 2 hours. The recommended course of treatment with brand or generic Zylet should be duly completed and not stopped prematurely.
