General Information On Zymar Eye Drops
Zymar Eye Drops are used for the treatment of eye infections caused by certain bacteria. It is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. They help in preventing the production of those proteins that are needed by the bacteria to survive. These eye drops are clear and pale yellow in color. The drops are FDA approved and can be obtained only by prescription. The drops should be put directly in the eye and you have to be very cautious that the applicator tip does not touch the eye, skin or any other surface. The recommended dose of brand or generic Zymar Eye Drops is one eye drop to be applied every two hours on the first and second day of treatment, then one drop up to four times a day from the third day till the seventh day.
Side Effects / Precautions for Zymar Eye Drops
Zymar Eye Drops (Gatifloxacin) should not be used if you are allergic to brand or generic Zamar eye drops or any other ingredients in it. You should consult your doctor before taking Zymar Eye Drops drug if you are pregnant. Consult your doctor if you are taking any other prescription or over-the-counter medicines like herbal products or other dietary supplements. Make sure to tell your doctor if you wear contact lenses.
Other conditions in which you should consult a health care provider before taking Gatifloxacin are if you have diabetes, liver or kidney problems, low blood potassium level, heart problems, Alzheimer disease, central nervous system problems or tendonitis.
Zymar Eye Drops Dosage
Zymar is available as a 2.5 ml and 5 ml ophthalmic solution for treating bacterial conjunctivitis. The recommended dosage of this ophthalmic solution is one drop every two hours in the affected eye or eyes when you are awake. This dosage regimen should be followed at least 8 times each day on Days 1 and 2. From Day 3 the recommended dosage of Zymar is one drop in the affected eye or eyes up to four times while you are awake. This dosage regimen is to be strictly implemented till Day 7.
