General Information on Implanon

Implanon (generic name – etonogestrel) is a prescription contraceptive drug used to prevent pregnancy. Implanon is a small plastic rod that is inserted into the skin of the patient’s upper arm. The medicine is slowly released into the body and the rod is left in its place. The drug prevents pregnancy for 3 years. Implanon rod contains etonogestrel, a hormone that inhibits ovulation. The hormone also has the ability to cause changes in the uterine lining and cervical mucus. Side Effects for Implanon
