General Information On Latisse

Latisse or Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution is an analog of prostaglandin, a natural chemical of the body. You can buy Latisse if your eyelashes are not thick enough and you want more noticeable lashes that are longer, darker, and ‘fuller’. The Latisse kit comes with the Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution and a set of applicators. You have to use two separate applicators to apply the solution on both your eyelids and once used, you have to dispose of the applicator and not re-use it. You will notice the full benefits of the medication after around 2 months of use.

Side Effects for Latisse

Mild discomfort, dryness, redness of the eyelid, and eye redness are some of the side effects commonly associated with use of Latisse, but you need to contact your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen or persist. If you are having pain in your eyes, notice any discharge, swelling and unusual redness in your eyes, if there are rapid vision changes, or you are experiencing total blindness, stop using the medicine immediately and seek medical help. Some other side effects of Latisse include swelling or itching in the face, throat or tongue, trouble breathing, rash, and severe dizziness.

Precautions

The most important precaution that you should take while applying Latisse is not to apply it in areas where you do not want hair to grow. It is possible that hair may grow in other areas where the medication comes in contact with the skin. Therefore, make sure to wipe off any extra solution that stays on your skin after applying the product. Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any history of glaucoma, iritis, macular edema, lens extractions, aphakia or uveitis. If you have developed a new condition such as an eye infection, then ask your doctor about whether you should continue applying Latisse or not. If you use contact lenses, make sure to remove them before applying the product, and re-insert them only after at least 15 minutes following application. This is because Latisse contains Benzalkonium chloride, which your soft contact lenses may absorb.

Latisse Dosage

Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution is available in Latisse 0.3mg/ml bottles of 3ml. Before applying this medicine, make sure to wash your face and hands and remove any makeup or contact lenses. Place a drop of the solution on the applicator and then draw a line on your upper eyelid margin, going from the inside to the outside. Remove any excess solution that may have touched your skin. Throw the applicator and use another one to apply the solution on the other eyelid. When you buy Latisse, the pack comes with 60 sterile disposable applicators, which would be enough to apply the solution on your eyelids for 30 days. The solution needs to be applied regularly on your eyelids, and once you discontinue it, your eyelashes may return to their normal size and color.

Interactions

Tell your doctor about all prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and herbal products you are using at present time. If you are already using glaucoma eye drops like Latanoprost, Bimatoprost orTravoprost, then ask your doctor whether you can use Latisse too, or not.
