General Information On Letairis

Letairis is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. The generic name of the drug is Ambrisentan. Pulmonary arterial hypertension refers to high blood pressure in the lungs. The condition may surface due to an increase in the levels of endothelin-1, which is a natural substance. Letairis works by blocking the effect of endothelin-1, thus reducing blood pressure in the lungs. It also works to prevent the thickening of blood vessels in the lungs and heart. The medication is available in the form of a tablet. Letairis can improve your ability to exercise if you are suffering from pulmonary arterial hypertension. However, you should consult your doctor before you buy Letairis to avoid any risk of side effects.

Side Effects for Letairis

Some people may experience side effects after taking Letairis tablets such as a stuffy nose, abdominal pain, headache, and constipation after taking the medication. You should immediately notify your doctor if any of the negative symptoms worsen or persist for a long time. Serious side effects are very rare, but if you suffer from swelling of the feet/ankles, fast heartbeat, breathing problems, persistent vomiting/nausea, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin/eyes after using Letairis, you must immediately notify your doctor or seek medical help.

Precautions

You should not take Letairis if you have any allergies or if you are allergic to any Endothelin receptor blockers. The drug may not be ideal for people with certain medical conditions. You should inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have/have had liver disease or anemia. Letairis should not be used during pregnancy and by breastfeeding mothers as it may harm an unborn baby and pass to a baby through breast milk. As such, women should undergo pregnancy tests before starting the treatment and use Letairis only after the reports are negative. They should ask their doctor to prescribe two effective birth control methods to avoid pregnancy during Letairis treatment. Continue using birth control methods for one month after you stop taking the medication.

Letairis Dosage

The drug is available in two strengths: Letairis 5mg and Letairis 10mg. The dosage of the medication is determined by your doctor. Doctors generally recommend their patients to take one tablet of Letairis a day. If the dose of Letairis 5mg is well tolerated, then a doctor may ask a patient to take one dose of Letairis 10mg a day. The tablet can be taken with or without food. You should not increase or decrease the dose without consulting your doctor, and you must also not stop taking Letairis without consulting your doctor.

Interactions

Letairis may interact with other drugs and cause side effects. It can react with medications such as Cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral, and Gengraf). Your doctor may be aware of Letairis interactions with other medications, and as such, it is necessary that you inform him or her about every medication you take, which includes prescription, non-prescription, and herbal medicines/supplements.
