General Information On Ogen

Ogen is used for treating or managing hot flashes in females after menopause. After the age of 45 to 55 years, the ovaries of women stop producing estrogen, which results in burning, dryness, or itching in or around the vagina. The generic name of the drug is Estropipate and it is also used for treating post-menopausal symptoms like osteoporosis. You can buy Ogen in the form of oral tablets and you will need to take the strength that is prescribed by your doctor. Sometimes, Ogen can also be used for treating certain cancers like prostate cancer and metastatic breast cancer.

Side Effects for Ogen

Headache, dizziness, stomach upset, lightheadedness, nausea, bloating, weight changes, depleted sex drive, and breast tenderness can commonly occur. However, you need to contact your doctor if you experience severe depression or memory loss, breast lumps, unusual vaginal bleeding, swelling on the hands or feet, unusual vaginal itching, odor, or discharge, yellowing of the eyes or skin, persistent vomiting or nausea, worsening of seizures, stomach or abdominal pain, and worsening diabetes symptoms like increased urination and thirst. Sometimes, Ogen may also result in stroke, blood clots or heart attacks, and therefore, you need to watch out for symptoms like trouble breathing, sudden dizziness or fainting, coughing up of blood, pain, swelling, or redness on the legs, sudden vision changes, slurred speech, weakness on one side of the body, severe headache or chest, left arm, or jaw pain. An allergic reaction to Ogen may be identified by swelling or itching of the face, throat, tongue or lips, trouble breathing, severe dizziness, rashes, or hives. In that case, you should immediately stop using the drug and inform your doctor.

Precautions

Before taking Ogen, you should inform your doctor if you have unknown vaginal bleeding, history of heart attacks, stroke or blood clots, liver, heart or kidney disease, asthma, seizures, diabetes, migraine headaches, mineral imbalance, an underactive thyroid, cholestatic jaundice, high blood pressure during pregnancy, uterine problems, lupus, porphyria, gall bladder disease, mental or mood disorders, obesity, or high cholesterol or fat levels. You should quit smoking as it may further increase your risks of blood clots, stroke, heart attack or high blood pressure. Ogen should not be used if you are pregnant, as it may lead to birth defects in the child or cancer later on in his or her life. You should also not take it if you are nursing a baby, because the drug may pass into your breast milk and harm your baby.

Ogen Dosage

You can take Ogen oral tablets which come in the strengths of Ogen 0.625mg, Ogen1.25mg or Ogen 2.5mg. The proper dosage of Ogen will be recommended to you by your doctor depending on your medical condition, response to treatment, and age.

Interactions

Your doctor will not recommend you to buy Ogen if you are already taking blood thinners, corticosteroids, azole antifungals, rifamycins, macrolide antibiotics, or anti-seizure medicines. You should also not take the medicine with drugs like anastrozole, Phenobarbital, exemestane, phenytoin, tamoxifen, or raloxifene. It is important to make your doctor aware of all medications that you are currently taking.
