General Information on Proamatine

Proamatine is a medication used for the treatment of low blood pressure (hypotension). The generic name of this drug is Midodrine. This medication belongs to a group of medicines known as Vasopressors. It increases a patient’s blood pressure level by constricting or narrowing the walls of blood vessels. Proamatine is not a cure for low blood pressure. You can buy Proamatine as an oral tablet.

Side Effects for Proamatine

In some cases, Proamatine may cause unreasonable increase in blood pressure, especially when the patient is lying down. The symptoms of high blood pressure include pounding in the ears, headache, blurred vision, and an unusual awareness of your heartbeat. In a few cases, high blood pressure may cause a decreased heart rate. Inform your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical assistance if you experienced irregular heartbeats, chest pain or a fluttering feeling in the chest.

Most patients who use Proamatine only experience minor side effects such as Goosebumps or chills, an increased need to urinate, or difficulty in urinating. Other minor side effects include itching or tingling of the skin, nervousness, anxiety, and a sense of heaviness in the head. Inform your doctor if these symptoms persist or worsen.

Precautions

You need to consult your doctor before you buy Proamatine if you suffer from any of the following: kidney problems, overactive thyroid, or any heart problem other than low blood pressure. Also, inform your doctor if you have liver problems, pheochromocytoma, diabetes, glaucoma or other vision problems. If you have any of the above conditions, your doctor may decide against prescribing you Proamatine or ask you to undergo special tests prior to the treatment.

Proamatine may or may not affect an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, or become pregnant any time during the course of the treatment. Proamatine may or may not pass into breast milk. Do not take the medication without consulting your doctor if you are breastfeeding.

Proamatine Dosage

You must buy Proamatine as per the dosage prescribed by your doctor. Proamatine is available in Proamatine 2.5mg, Proamatine 5mg and Proamatine 10mg strengths. The usual recommended dose is 10mg three times daily. The medication may be taken with or without water. Take the last dose of Proamatine at least 4 hours before going to sleep. If you take the medicine just before going to bed, it may cause excessive increase in your blood pressure.

During the course of the treatment, you may have to check your blood pressure at regular intervals and take other diagnostic tests. This is why it is imperative that you do not miss any of the scheduled appointments with your doctor.

Interactions

Proamatine may interact with certain medications. Inform your doctor about all the medications you have recently taken or are still taking.
