General Information On Tarka

Tarka is commonly used for treating patients with high blood pressure or hypertension. This medicine is a combination of two drugs- Verapamil and Trandolapril. Verapamil belongs to the group of calcium channel blockers, and Trandolapril is an ACE inhibitor. Tarka is an oral tablet and acts by relaxing your heart muscles and blood vessels, thus allowing blood to flow freely and reducing blood pressure.

Side Effects for Tarka

Some of the commonly reported side effects of Tarka include cough, headache, sore throat, a stuffy or runny nose, constipation or diarrhea, dizziness, back pain, nausea, or joint pain. Most of these side effects are temporary and improve on their own as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, if you feel your condition is only getting worse and intolerable, you should stop using the drug and inform your doctor right away. Some serious but rare side effects of Tarka include less or stopped urination, shortness of breath, swelling, chest pain, weight gain, a slow heart rate, or jaundice, which can be identified by yellowing of the eyes or skin.

You should also discontinue Tarka if you develop an allergic reaction to the drug. This can be identified by symptoms such as hives or rashes all over the body, swelling or itching of the face, throat, lips, or tongue, difficulty breathing, or severe dizziness.

Precautions

You should inform your doctor about all the medical conditions you are suffering from at present (if any), especially if you have heart rhythm disorder, low blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes, or a nerve muscle disease like muscular dystrophy. You should also tell him/her if you have a heart condition like AV block or sick sinus syndrome, unless you are using a pacemaker. As the drug causes dizziness, you should not drive a vehicle, operate a machine, or perform any such activity that requires complete alertness. Pregnant women and lactating mothers should not use Tarka as it may harm their unborn baby or pass into breast milk and harm the nursing child.

Tarka Dosage

You may be asked to take Trandolapril 2mg and Verapamil 120mg when you first start Tarka treatment. The dosage can be divided into two doses per day. Depending on your condition and response to the treatment, your doctor may increase the dose to Trandolapril 4mg and Verapamil 480mg. You should take the drug with food. Patients with hepatic, heart, or renal problems may need special dosage adjustments, depending on the prescription of their doctor.

Interactions

Before you buy Tarka, you should inform your doctor if you are already taking heart rhythm medicines (such as flecainide, quinidine, or disopyramide), beta blockers (such as bisoprolol, atenolol, propranolol, or timolol) or antibiotics (such as erythromycin or clarithromycin). You should also tell him/her if you are taking diuretics, cyclosporine, digoxin, lithium, phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampin, or theophylline. Apart from these, tell your doctor about all the prescription and non-prescription drugs you are taking at present, including herbal products and health supplements.
